Entry to the festival is free, but you do need to pay to get into the big top. Ealing Comedy In The ParkThis outdoor festival, which takes place every year over five days in the London suburb of Ealing, has evolved into one of a fairly large scale affair over the past few years. Stars of the 2011 festival include Phill Jupitus and Tim Minchin. In just seven years, it has gone from being a small scale affair to a massive behemoth of an arts festival, with 24 venues in the Camden area of North London. This year, they could boast comedians of the calibre of Sean Lock and Omid Djalili. The main event is the big top, where a number of big name comedians are performing, which gives the whole thing an enjoyable circus atmosphere.

It has built a reputation as a launch pad for some of the biggest names in comedy, so if you want to see the stars of the future before they become popular and expensive, then you should give the Camden Fringe a shot.While the Edinburgh Festival Fringe still dominates the UK comedy calendar, London is fast catching up.
